Ashurst ADTLaw

Singapore-based Rob Palmer leads Ashurst ADTLaw's Brunei practice, which is heavily engaged in major projects in cooperation with Brunei’s Vision 2035 initiative. As such, the team works closely with Brunei’s public sector, and is a key port of call for dispute resolution and advisory roles for oil and gas, infrastructure projects, utilities facilities, and other public entities.  The department’s capacity is bolstered by Palmer’s experience in contract negotiation and the drafting of major infrastructure and power projects, and he has also extended his activity to include transactional and advisory roles for public enterprise services, such as Darussalam Enterprise in pursuing its aim of cultivating local entrepreneurship and productivity as part of Brunei Vision 2035.

  • Acted for a Bruneian government entity in Singapore-seated SIAC arbitrations relating to major structural and geotechnical defects in the design and construction of a social infrastructure project.
  • Advising Utamacon Sdn Bhd and Brunei’s Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation on the structuring and procurement of the first waste incineration plant in Brunei Darussalam at Sungai Paku which is to be carried out by JASTre.
